Waterfront Law Delivers Training at the Virginia Water Conference
I and the highly qualified waterfront and riparian property rights attorneys with whom I collaborate receive frequent invitations from a variety of industry and other groups to deliver training. Bryan Peeples of Waterfront Law taught during day one of the Virginia Water Conference, presented by the Virginia Lakes and Watersheds Association (VLWA) on March 1 in Richmond, VA.
The Training kicked off with presentations by technical, engineering and regulatory agency professionals who delivered information on the dam owner’s perspective and discussed the work needed through a Dam Rehabilitation (the history, evaluating the problem and altering the permit and construction to obtain a regular operation and maintenance certificate), dam safety basic principles and why they are important, dam inspections, dam mowing and maintenance, dam break inundation zone models and maps. Bryan’s presentation focused on federal laws, Virginia state laws and dam owner’s liability.
The VLWA annual conference addresses lakes and watersheds, engineering and life sciences, facilities, maintenance, public works, consulting, academic research, and administration. The organization’s goal is to serve a variety of people all working to improve Virginia’s lakes and watersheds. The conference is one of the largest state conferences in the US focused on water resources.
The Training was recorded via Zoom and will be uploaded to the VLWA website upon conclusion of the entire conference so be sure to check back if you missed it in person!
