Waterfront Law Team Supports Lynnhaven River NOW’s 22nd Annual Oyster Roast

May 13, 2024 | In The Community, | Quick Takes

The Waterfront Law Team was thrilled to support the always fun Lynnhaven River NOW Annual Oyster Roast at Rudee Inlet. In its 22nd year, the event raises funds to support Lynnhaven River NOW’s Pearl Education, Pearl Homes, Pearl Business (Waterfront Law Team is a proud Pearl Business member), and Pearl Faith Community outreach and education programs. Their mission is to promote clean and healthy waterways throughout Virginia Beach.

“Thank you so much to Pender & Coward for the generous support of Lynnhaven River NOW through the years. This was our best oyster roast ever and the proceeds will help us continue our mission of clean and healthy waterways and lands in all of Virginia Beach,” said Brian Sagedy, Development Director, Lynnhaven River NOW.

Jim Lang and Kathryn Byler, attorneys with Pender & Coward

Waterfront Law and Pender & Coward team members Jim Lang and Kathryn Byler, as well as a handful of invited industry peers, were able to enjoy all the event sponsorship had to offer –  excellent food from Lynnhaven Aquaculture Oysters and Beach Bully, delicious cocktails from Chesapeake Bay Distillery, wine and local beer from Smartmouth Brewing and a live (plus silent) auction, live music and the chance to reconnect with our many friends at Lynnhaven River NOW.

The goal of Lynnhaven River NOW is clean and healthy Virginia Beach waterways. Their objectives include to identify and reduce sources of contamination in our local waterways; to educate and engage the community and partner organizations in restoring and protecting our waterways and natural areas and to restore the lost habitats such as oyster reefs, salt marshes, native plants, forests, and other buffers that help to filter polluted runoff and protest our waterways and their marine life.
